Ah...our very first stay-at-home Thanksgiving. That's right. Jerry is 51 and I'll be the big 5-0 in a very short while and today was the first time we have ever just stayed home and had our own Thanksgiving dinner. Just me, Jerry, Nicole, and the two dogs, Gordy and Georgi.
Gordy and Georgi didn't get any of the "good stuff." They had to make do with their regular fare, but they did get an "Oinkie" rawhide and sure did seem to enjoy that!
We had a traditional Thanksgiving dinner and it was delicious. We used the good china. My mom gave me the china she and dad got when they got married a long time ago. Of course, we rarely use it because it requires handwashing, but for only 3 people, it's not a big chore.
You should see this china - it used to be so ugly to me and now I love it. Let me see, maybe there is a photo online I can grab. Yep, yep... this isn't photographed as good as it could be, but you get the idea:
So, we enjoyed our delicious dinner, and afterwards, Nicole and I decided it would be fun to go see the Twilight movie.... so we did! And it was good. I just hope my daughter doesn't fall in love with a vampire, but that really isn't fit conversation for Thanksgiving Day, now is it?
We also heard on the radio that the mall is opening at midnight. Guess who is going shopping? Oh yeah. Me and the kid. Jerry has to work tomorrow. We're going to my dad's for ANOTHER dinner that we don't have to cook - wooohooo! Two Turkey Days and then....oh yeah.... my surprise party!
Jerry has been watching some never-ending Pink Floyd concert on cable. No kidding it was on while the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was on the morning. It's almost 7pm and the darn thing is STILL ON.
This may require kidnapping of the remote or some kind of intervention.
Maybe I'll pop in a Sound of Music DVD - that should do it.

Oh I can't wait for the day to be all alone with just my immediate family and dogs.
I LOVE the china! We had an uneventful--and very filling--day today, too. Glad I stayed in my PJs most of the day...especially because I ate WAY too much to even wear my jeans! Happy Thanksgiving, and impending b-day, too!
Tell Jerry that I'll be over shortly to enjoy Pink Floyd. Will ya bring us some popcorn please?
Frankly, the space age china is TOTALLY charming.
I'll take Maria & the Captain over Floyd ANY day.
I'm with Hot Tub Lizzy! Do-Re-Mi!
I do love that china! Very pretty!
And way to be a super cool mom and take her to Twilight and the midnight madness!
A good portion of the "Twilight" movie was made in a small town just east of Portland named Corbett. What did you think of the scenery? There was a lot of hype on our local news when the premiere screened. I am so totally not into vampires and all that but my daughter is nuts about books of that genre. I'm glad you guys had a nice Thanksgiving...ours was very enjoyable, too.
Oh, one more thing. We've pretty much had Thanksgiving as just us and the kids for years...INSISTED on it since every other holiday, birthday, etc., was always...ALWAYS...spent with the in-laws. Last year, for the first time in, at that time, 33 years of marriage, we got to spend Christmas with just us. Boy, was it GREAT!!!!!!!!!!
Didja have your SURPRISE party last nite? Hope it was a blast-and-a-half. When IS the Big Day, anyway. Anyway, Happy B-Day!!
BTW, don't forget to tune in to Sx3 today...we've got the Holiday Spirit!
Sounds like a perfectly peaceful day! I was blessed with the same, it all flowed together perfectly right up to pillow time. My roomate saw Twilight as well, I didn't take him up on the invite but I hear it's really good. My son and girlfriend are reading the book, sounds like I may need to partake.
And guess what? I have some Birthday Bling for you! Please stop by to view the particulars!!
