Controversy

So... let's shake it up a bit. I've been thinking there are so many controversial subjects - things we tread lightly around and hope we don't disturb the waters. I think most people have strong opinions on these subjects but don't often "go there." So, I am going to go there with these:

1. Should gay couples be able to marry?

2. Does age matter in relationships?

What are your thoughts? These are mine:

1. Oh, yes. I do think so. Now, being raised in a conservative home in the south in the "olden days," you might think I would be anti-gay, but I am not. And, I also have strong spiritual beliefs, but, amazing as it may be, I believe they encompass this issue wonderfully and support Love (yes, capitalized) in any circumstance. I am happy to say that I belong to a spiritual community that embraces all people, all races, all religions, and all spiritual paths.

Speaking of my spiritual community, we just happen to have two married gay people, Jason & deMarco who are working with our youth (my daughter included!) whom I think are extraordinary human beings and also happen to be fantastic singers. They were recently featured in a Showtime special, "We're All Angels."
Yep, I support two people (of legal age) enjoying a personal relationship in whatever manner enriches their lives.

2. In my opinion, age DOES matter in relationships. Always? No... are you 25 and your partner is 45? great! Are you 18 and your partner is 50? Yeah, that matters! This is just strictly my opinion, but what kind of intellectual relationship is possible when the age difference is so vast?

Now, change the spread 40 and 72... possibly "do-able" as both have had an opportunity to have life experiences.

I know, I'm biased on this one, but stay in a decent range, people!

What do YOU think?

Point 2: My wife is a lot older than me and that is HAWT. She is HAWT. Well, 6 years older anyway... ;)
I would agree though that a 40 year old and 72 year old might have a good relationship, both folks are mature and know themselves and what they want in life. Differences are really up to the couple, although Anna Nicole Smith and her 80 year old husband did not seem to have anything to do with romance and love.

1. Who cares? If you don't like gay marriage, then don't marry a gay person (har!).
It really is up to the folks involved, just like me and my wife and what we want to do in our personal lives.

PERSONAL and PRIVATE: there are many issues that are simply nobody else's business, and I think THAT is one cornerstone of American democracy.

more important controversy: Marilyn or Grace, or Cary Grant vs. Gregory Peck? Dang, that's a tough one...

Yes and Yes. My college roomie (female) is married now to the love of her life (also female). I'd say it's a match made in heaven! And I really think it's nasty when old coots get hitched to these young gals. I worked on Capitol Hill for a while, and lots of congressmen are working on Wife #2, #3 or even #4. Damn bunch of hypocrites, if you ask me!

(Lynda--Gregory Peck is probably the most awesome actor ever, I mean, what a body of work, and a great voice and a great look--but Cary Grant, I think, was more glamorous---we are watching Hitchcock's 'To catch a thief' this weekend--Cary Grant and Grace Kelly!!!!! But then you had, of course, 'Roman Holiday' with Peck and Audrey Hepburn....maybe my favorite movie for all time...)
wow--my captcha below is 'alamo'

I got married at 20 and my husband 30. at the time it made no difference to me but as I got older he got old. It makes a big difference now. He's in retire mode and I'm still ready to go.
