Love Is Love When You Give It Away

On occasion, I have shared my artwork with those of you who happened to pop in and those of you who, to my amazement, continue to come back. So, I am going to share another with you today. This is entitled, "One Spirit," and was done a while back, but is my personal favorite.

This piece created itself. I started with a yellow background and smeared some dark red...each child flows into the other and each is of another ethnic background. Thus, connected and one spirit.

Isn't that the way it really is? Or how we should see one another?

I am continually amazed at how art truly creates itself...I feel like I am just a tool from which things flow once in a while. Of course, I know what I like isn't necessarily the cup of tea of another, but if you would like this print, I would love to share the love!

So, about now, you're wondering if I am going to ask you to post a notice on your blog, click your heels together three times, or enter more than once for more chances. Wrong-o! Leave me a message (include your email address so that I can contact you if you're the winner) and I will pick that winner on January 30th.

If you want to, tell me one of your Random Acts of Kindness - I could use some fresh ideas!

That's really neat, Lynda!

This totally won't give you an idea, since you're a Houston-ite, but the other day my roommate and I knocked the snow off our neighbor's car when we did our own, so that the snow wouldn't melt and then refreeze as ice.

Wow! You're a really talented gal, ya know that? One of my recent Random Acts of Kindness happend just today. I pulled into the parking lot at my local Starbucks, next to a van that was parked in the handicapped spot. The driver of the van was pretty amazing. She got out of the van, used crutches to navigate to the back doors, opened the doors, pulled out her wheelchair, closed the van back up and was seated in the wheelchair and ready to go into Starbucks before I could even ask her if she needed help. I greeted her with a "Good Morning!" as I got closer, and she asked me to stop and help her. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why. She'd gotten her foot stuck under one of the footrests of the wheelchair, and could navigate very well. I helped her get unstuck, and she thanked me profusely. She got up the ramp and into the Starbucks, but then ended up ordering multiple coffees-I'm guessing for co-workers. I got a cardboard tray for her and carried the coffee out to her van. There's no way that gal needed to negotiate that distance in the dark with a lapful of coffee!

G'morning Sweetheart! Since we are new bloggy friends, I had no idea you were such an incredible artist!! Love your work.

Random Act of Kindness - geesh, I try to do something small everyday even if it's just a simple smile to someone having a bad day. I have personally tried to bring simple politeness back into society. I ALWAY'S hold the door for folks out in public and 90% people are always shocked. I NEVER cut trucker drivers off and always let them out into traffic. These are silly I know, but I hold out that the kindness is contagious, and besides warms my heart immensely!

Thanks for the reminder Lynda, I will be very aware of ALL of my actions today...

Namaste' my bloggy friend...

My most recent random act of kindness hasn't quite happened yet. I have a student who is on the precipice of an "A," but isn't quite there yet. She so totally deserves the grade, though, for her insight as well as her hard work. I think I'm gonna push her over the line. It's only 2 points, after all. Shhhhhhhhh...don't tell anyone. This kind of action on the part of a teacher would be talked about for years. Don't want Mrs. Scribe playing favorites, do we?

Hi! I'm new to your blog; I found you by way of the MN Matron.
I LOVE that piece of art! Great color, flow and connectedness. I understand what you meant about "art creates itself". I'm a "hobby artist" and almost all of my work happens that way. It just comes out, I have no idea what the end will look like, it just happens.
My random act of kindness is to always be looking to compliment a stranger. Today the woman that jumped in front of me in the lunch line smelled pretty and I said as much (instead of getting annoyed that she budged in line). I love to tell people they look nice, when they do. I love your outfit/sweater/blouse/perfume etc. People are always surprised to receive a compliment from a stranger and I never hesitate to say something nice to whom ever I encounter. sharon@pcspeed.com
