Giving It Up

Monday morning and a storm is approaching. I guess it's another front heading our way. That's okay... anything that brings more "coolness" is a good thing. I can just hear The Fonz making his "Ayyyyyyyyyyy" noise right now.

I was visiting someone's blog the other day and she was letting people post their secret confessions - anonymously, of course. I was amazed at all the hurt and pain people have been carrying all alone for so long. Why do we do that?

Why are we so scared that people know we have problems or issues? What makes us think people will think less of us if we're not all "together?" And, who really is? Of course, why are we so shocked when people we think ARE all together aren't?

Or is it just me?

Then again, there are people that ALWAYS want to tell their problems and issues. I mean, to excess...that's a whole other post.

Now that I am about to be 50, I realize I have learned a few things along the way:

I don't have to be perfect.
I don't have to do everything perfectly.
It's okay to ask people for help - people will surprise you more often than not - they WANT to help.
God does love us and is always good.
Laugh a lot.
Share.
Most of those old sayings are true... you know which ones I mean.
You never regret telling your loved ones that you do. Love them.

And now, it's time for me to begin my work day. What is your, "One thing I know for sure" thing? (thanks to Oprah for the wording of that question)

Oh Lynda, this is just so right on.
It is my good fortune to know that I am doing the work I was born to do, my wife loves me and we are a solid little rock, my pets are adorable and fun, and I love reading. Kind of a short and shallow list, eh?
Happy Monday, and watch for the brown truck and the guy in brown shorts, in about a week.....

I totally hear you on all things... except for asking for help... I have the hardest time doing that... and I need to, but... ARGH... very hard.

One thing I know for sure is that I have a Savior who loves me so much that he was willing to die for me so that I could live forever with him though I earned and deserved eternal punishment.

sometimes people say they want you to share but thats only to get the juicy stuff. But then they really don't want to continue to hear about the problem. But for the person it goes on and on.

Your family members are absolutely the most important people in the world.

I too don't have to be perfect, but I spend much of my life trying.

I've learned that I like me just the way I am. I wish I'd learned that back in the middle school/high school years, sigh. But with age comes wisdom, eh?

One thing I know for sure is that if I don't ask for help, I certainly can't complain if I don't get any.
