One of Those Days

And it's only 8:27 a.m. here.

Before I even got to work, my daughter called from school and said she got sick and needed to come home. I think she's lying. Last night, she came home from her friend's house crying because she didn't have a date for the homecoming dance, but "everybody else" did.

Quite frankly, she is either avoiding those friends or looking for "friend pity" today.

The boy she really wanted to ask her is going to a concert that night with another guy friend.

So, my husband gets to work and finds out the financial institution he works for was sold to another one. What does this mean as far as a job goes? That feeling of instability and not being sure is so scary.

I am busier than I have ever been at work - that's good - but with all these other things going on, it feels like another layer of stress on top of the other 897 that were there before.

A nap sounds good right now. Yes, I know... an escape mechanism. Heck, Calgon would do the trick.

OH MY GOODNESS! Best wishes to you and your husband, and, well, as I have said before: I am so glad I am not in high school anymore. On the one hand, she is upset about the social situation, but I guess on the other hand, what can anyone do but face it and keep on going?
I'll be thinking about you all..

Oh yes, Calgon all the way!

I'm sorry to hear about your husband's situation. I wish him all the best. Please keep us posted.

My daughter is now in college...believe me, I DON'T miss the high school drama.

I think the itty-bitty post I just wrote echoes your thoughts in a nutshell, ha! I know how you must be feeling about the job instability. My Dear Hubby went thru the company he's worked for for almost 30 years now being sold 3 different times. The last one was the most unsettling, being taken over by a national corporation in the industry he works in. But it's ended up being one of the best investments, I guess you'd call it. Maybe the same will come from your husband's situation, too. I will pray so. The bank that holds our mortgage was recently sold...that makes us feel uneasy, too...but what can any of us do but hold on to the Hand of the Lord for dear life and pray? *SIGH*

Poor thing. Kids are rotten. And boys smell just a little bit. Some more than others.

Calgon...LOL...love it. You sound like me.
Thanks for stopping by my blog via the BATW terminal. I appreciated your affirming comments on my controversial homework post...I HATE debates...I just want the world to agree with everything I say. (teehee...that means I like you!)
All the best with your family stresses. Hope you got your Calgon therapy.
(and btw...I TOTALLY make the 'alot' mistake ALL the time, I KNOW it's wrong but for some reason it sneaks out, weird.)

My Hubby lost his job in the wake of 9/11, and we depended on my little ol' modest teacher salary for almost a year--so be glad you're secure at work! It's all a shell game; I'm just so darned angry that they're playing with our money. Hold on tight--I think we're in for a bumpy ride. As far as HC is concerned? One of my gals only went 2x during high school; the other only went her senior year. Don't know if either remembers that nite as being particularly fabulous. More like smelly & sweaty, as high school dances usually are!
