Ike Hits!

And this time it wasn't Tina.

Georgi watching the storm begin

Holy cow...let me tell you that sustained winds of 50 - 70mph (with much greater gusts) for over 5 hours can begin to wear you down.

I cannot believe all this was happening less than 24 hours ago and I am able to sit here and type this.

We live on the very far west side of Houston, so we never experienced the eye of Ike. We WANTED to experience it just to have a break, but he was looking a little further east and we got nothing but air. Lots and lots and lots of it.

One of two stacks of limbs, branches, and pine cones

The fence is down on two of three sides, we lost tons of branches, and my favorite tree. But, and here's the big BUT...we lived, no flooding, the house held, and we got our power back in only 12 hours.

Now, the cleanup....we need a maid.

The three separate sections of fencing we lost

So glad you are all safe and that you have power. Imagine how fierce it must have been right close to Ike's Eye..!!!

Your fence blew over and your favorite tree? WOW! That's a fierce storm! Your dog looks pretty nervous.
So glad that you're OK, best wishes with the cleanup.

Wonderful news! I have to say, I worried about you all yesterday, since you hadn't updated the blog. To take your mind off the cleanup, come pick up your *award* and play S3--yup it's that time again!

So glad you came through OK. A fence you can replace, right? The photo of your puppy, with the concerned look, is priceless! BTW, I'm hosting a Recipe Week on my blog, starting tomorrow. Please stop by and see what's cookin'!

Oh, I am SO RELIEVED to hear you're ok!!! I can't tell you how many prayers I sent up for you and a blog friend named Kay who also lives in Houston! I haven't heard from her but I'm hoping she's ok, too. I can see in your case the good Lord heard my prayers and brought you thru in one piece. Bless you, Lynda!
