Giving It Up!

Ok, I am a big, fat liar....

I told the truth about all of my three things in the previous post.

1. We adopted our daughter on her 14th birthday. We got her at age 13, and if you have ever wondered about adopting an older child, I HIGHLY recommend it and would happy be to discuss it with you!

2. I rode in a submarine in the Cayman Islands. It descended approximately 150 feet and the view was amazing - we went in both the day and night. Incredible!

3. My artwork has been used on two CD covers. One, unfortunately, I cannot remember the artist's name - isn't that awful? It was very obscure - the music was dark as was the artwork, which I still have and will share with you. The other was for Richard Orange and the Eggmen (great name, huh?). He still has a credit to a photo I manipulated for one album. The cover has changed, but I'll share that artwork with you as well.

I love that the most chosen "lie" for me was being an older mom. Psych!

This was for my obscure artist:

Carried

This was for Richard:
Falling Star

That was tricky to tell the truth about all 3 - but how wonderful that you adopted an older child!! I'd love to hear more about it! I am on the other end of that spectrum - I gave a child up for adoption and reuinted with her as an adult. Have a great weekend!

You are SO COOL! Thanks for the Bloggy Award (I have an intriguing perspective? Thanks for thinking so!). I admire you so much for adopting a teenager. Hubby and I will be "empty nesters" soon, and I've always thought we had "room for one more"!

I definitely cry foul on this one! I do think it's cool that you adopted your daughter, though!

I enjoyed my visit this evening - thanks for stopping by Missouri yesterday! I am particularly intrigued that you adopted an older child. Sharing your story may be inspirational to others! And a nice way to document on her behalf your found love. Just an idea :)

And your art is beautiful!

Very cool.

I hope you blog more about adopting an older child -- without, obviously, embarrassing your teenager more than you already do by just, you know, existing ;).

It's very intriguing, especially to those of us who weren't hit with the fertile stick.

So then your real lie was that one of them was a lie :) Pretty sneaky....

I have friends who started out as Foster Parents and then went on to adopt older children. 3 were sisters whose parents were killed in an auto accident and there were no family members who were capable/willing to take them on. The State wanted to keep them together if at all possible. D and B were in their 'middle' years, too...or getting awfully close! My parents were almost pioneers in the Foster Child system in Washington State. They began taking in kids when my brothers and I were little. I lost count of how many passed thru our doors. And people seem to think abuse and neglect are something new? Well, this was back in the late 50s - early 60s and all that horror was going on back then, too. It takes special people to take on such a daunting task. Bless you for giving Nicole such a loving home! And thank you for the award!! I've had so much going on IRL this past week I'm just now catching up on my Coffee Breaks, one of which YOU are now! Have a wonderful weekend, Lynda...it's supposed to be gorgeous here in Portland today!

OK, you're now officially My Hero! What a wonderful person you must be, to make room in your heart and your home for a teen who needs you. Here's a toast to you, Lynda!
